Indie Mystery Writers
Cindy Sample is an Amazon best selling author and former mortgage banking CEO who decided plotting murder was more entertaining than plodding through paperwork. She retired to follow her lifelong dream of being a mystery author. Her experiences with on-line dating sites fueled the concept for DYING FOR A DATE, a humorous romantic mystery set in the California gold country. DYING FOR A DANCE, a 2012 LEFTY AWARD finalist for best humorous mystery and winner of the 2011 Northern California Publishers & Authors award for fiction, is based on her experiences in the glamorous world of competitive ballroom dancing. Who knew dancing could be so deadly?
DYING FOR A DAIQUIRI, a 2014 LEFTY Award finalist, moves the action to the Big Island of Hawaii. Never has research been so much fun! Cindy is currently working on DYING FOR A DUDE (October 2014) and having a blast.
With little more than an urge to hang out at the beach, write mystery novels, and mollify a grumpy cat who’d never ridden in a car before, Sue McGinty left Los Angeles on June 17, 1994—the same day OJ Simpson took flight across the LA freeways. Unlike OJ, Sue had a destination in mind: the Central Coast town of Los Osos. Not the Cabot Cove of “Murder She Wrote,” but close.
Her Central Coast mysteries, “Murder in Los Lobos” and “Murder at Cuyamaca Beach,” feature former nun turned sleuth Bella Kowalski. In Sue’s new novel, “Murder in Mariposa Bay,” Bella confronts an unsavory group with murder in mind as they attempt to muscle in on the lucrative Los Lobos sewer contract.
Susan’s first suspense novel, “Tangled Webs,” was published in 2005 to great acclaim from readers. The novel combines Susan’s love of mystery and quilting, as the female protagonist is a professional quilter (Susan only wishes she could quilt the way her protagonist does!). Her quilting readers are “surprised how much quilting is in the book, and how well it fits into the story.” More than one reader has said: “I’m suffering from sleep deprivation. I couldn’t put it down!”
In 2014 Susan launched her next novel, the paranormal suspense story titled “Proof of Identity,” to rave reviews. Readers seem to like it as much as, if not more than, “Tangled Webs.” And in May of 2014 her latest suspense novel, “Sins of the Past,” became available in both print and e-book format through Amazon. Also slated for release later in 2014 is “A Matter of Identity,” an historical romantic suspense tale that takes place in England in the 1860s and 1870s.
My passions are reading, old movies and writing. My books are light reading murder mysteries, also known as ‘cosy’ mysteries.
As a member of Clean Indie Reads, the stories are Flinch Free Fiction. At present I’m working on book #3 in the Bodies Everywhere Series.
My website is a one stop place to buy my books, link to my two blogs, and be entertained by others with stories, artwork, photographs.
Sweet Mystery Books was born in July 2012 when Sandy Penny was helping promote a self-published mystery author’s first book.
After finding few mystery book sites that would allow self-published authors to showcase their work, Sandy decided to do what she always does. She moved outside the box again and created a site that would consider all authors – as long as they had a well written and professionally produced product.
That site was and is Sweet Mystery Books. More…
Nancy was a Santa Cruz, California, Realtor for twenty-five years but was having so much fun writing that she let her license lapse in May of 2013.
After earning a BA in behavioral science from San Jose State University, she worked in the advertising department of the San Jose Mercury News. A move to Santa Cruz meant a new job as a librarian and later a stint as the business manager of Shakespeare/Santa Cruz. Nancy’s work history reflects her philosophy: people should try something radically different every few years. Writing is her newest adventure.
She put Regan, Tom , and Dave from the Regan McHenry Real Estate Mysteries Series on hiatus to write Mags and the AARP Gang, a comedy/adventure about a group of octogenarian would-be bank robbers, but she missed her characters, so they’re back to solve another murder in recently released “The Murder House.” More…
