Story Locations

Katy has also traveled to England (Was It Murder?). She also plans to go to Hollywood, Hawaii, and wherever else her adventures take her…
Fun Look Back at the Central Coast
Several years ago,San Luis Obispo was named the happiest city in America by author and researcher Dan Buettner. Not long after Buettner’s book, THRIVE, hit the bookshelves, Oprah Winfrey sent her team to check out what makes San Luis Obispo the happiest place in the US. Here’s that video: Jenny McCarthy Visits San Luis Obispo.

Pismo Beach
Pismo Beach is called “Clam Beach” in the books. The name Pismo comes from the Chumash language word for tar, Pismu’ , which was gathered from tar springs in Price Canyon near Pismo Beach. The tar was a valuable product which the Chumash Indians used to caulk their seagoing canoes, called tomol, which traveled along the coast and out to the Channel Islands. – Wikipedia
Pismo Beach Monarch Grove
Each year thousands of vibrant orange and black Monarch Butterflies flock to Pismo Beach, seeking shelter from the freezing northern winters. From late October to February, the butterflies cluster in the limbs of a grove of Eucalyptus trees at Pismo State Beach. The grove is easily accessible. It is located on State Highway 1 at the south boundary of the city limits of Pismo Beach.

Arroyo Grande, CA
Also known as Cala Grande in my books, is my home. The first thing you’ll notice about Arroyo Grande is the genuine character and charm. This is no faux historic village. It is a one-of-a-kind California original with a walkable downtown and many historic Victorian buildings.
